How to have a low-key quarantine Halloween

Halloween is such an exciting time of year. Its spooky season, the leaves are changing, everyone is out getting dressed up for sweater weather. However, it's not a shock that Halloween is going to be a little different for everyone involved this year. Here at Think Hemp Chicks, we have decided to help those who are struggling to come up with ideas for their kids, or even themselves, to enjoy the spooky holiday.

Make some Halloween themed treats

To make you and your kiddos feel like they're really immersed in the Halloween spirit, make some sweet treats that’ll help you feel like you’re not missing out on any holiday festivities. Here are a few ideas that we thought would be easy to make in the kitchen.

Orange Cotton Candy: Nothing says Halloween like the color orange. If you and your kids love cotton candy, this is such an easy idea for you to achieve with little to no mess. You can find a cotton candy machine on amazon, and some orange sugar and your kids have an easy sweet treat to enjoy the night.

Edible monsters: Making edible monsters is super easy when you buy premade goodies from your grocery store. You can purchase treats like Oreos, Nutter Butters, pretzels and pretzel sticks, and store bought donuts. What you'll need to create your monsters are food coloring, white chocolate, and some candy eyes.

Just melt the white chocolate in a bowl thats deep enough for dipping. Dip your treat of choice, then give it a few extra minutes to dry so when you drizzle more chocolate with your spoon it gives it texture. Do this in any direction you choose, and then place the candy eyes right on top before the chocolate fully dries so it sticks.

This is a great Halloween treat to make with your kids because they can help without making any major messes or hurting themselves with anything hot. Also, the creative freedom is endless!

Rice Krispy Treats: Now this is our favorite treat that we had to save for last because it can be made for the kids, and for the adults. This one is a little more complicated and may take an extra day if you decide to make the cannabutter for the adult version of this recipe.

Part One: Make the Cannabutter (Optional: For Adults 21+ Only)

  1. 1 stick of butter
  2. Halloween colored sprinkles
  3. Candy Corn
  4. ⅛ of an Ounce of cannabis flower
  5. 1 cup of water
  6. Cheese Cloth
  7. Strainer

Step 1: Take your ⅛ of cannabis flower and put it in the oven at 325 degrees for 45 minutes

Step 2: Once the cannabis flower is out of the oven, put your stick of butter and 1 cup of flower over medium-low heat.

Step 3: Put the oven-baked cannaflower in the melted butter and water mixture and leave it to simmer for 3 hours. Come back every 30 minutes to give it a stir.

Step 4: Strain your butter mixture into a storage container (preferably glass) and place it into the fridge till hardened.

Step 5: Take your newly hardened butter and notice the pool of water at the bottom of your Tupperware. Carefully with a knife cut a sliver at the edge of your storage container to leave a large enough hole for you to drain the water out.

After that, you have your cannabutter and ready to make the Rice Krispy Treats!

Part Two: The Rice Krispies

  1. 6 cups of Rice Krispy Treats Cereal
  2. 1 package of Jet Puff Marshmallows
  3. 3 Tbsp of cannabutter/butter
  4. Wax paper
  5. Spatula
  6. 13x9 glass pan
  7. White Chocolate
  8. Food Coloring
  9. Candy Corn
  10. Halloween Colored Sprinkles

Step 1: Melt your cannabutter on low heat and add your marshmallows until full melted, then once they are done remove them from heat.

Step 2: Add your 6 cups of Rice Krispy Treats Cereal, Candy Corn, and sprinkles until fully incorporated together. However, note that this is our suggestion, feel free to remove or add whichever candies you choose!

Step 3: Take a 13x9 glass pan and place your wax paper inside to line the pan. Then take a buttered spatula, and spread your Rice Krispy Treats evenly. Wait until they are fully cooled down.

Step 4: Melt your white chocolate in the microwave, we suggest doing this in 30-second increments, and stirring in between to prevent burning.

Step 5: Add food coloring! We suggest orange, purple, or green. Maybe even all three if you’re willing!

Step 6: Splatter the colored white chocolate in all different directions. Go wild, add as much or as little as you desire.

There you have it! Your cannabis-infused Rice Krispy Treats. For children, we, of course, suggest that you just switch out the cannabutter for regular butter. For this step, it is an easy switch, as it is still 3 Tbps of butter.

Once all these treats are done

Eat them of course! But do it with Halloween style. Get you and your kids dressed up, dance to thriller, carve some pumpkins, and put on some Halloween movies. Have a Halloween party in the comfort of your own home! In case your children are younger in age and more sensitive, a Halloween child-appropriate movie will also work just fine, we suggest Spookly the Square Pumpkin, which is conveniently streaming on Netflix!

We hope that you and your kids enjoy this Halloween season during quarantine. We understand at Think Hemp Chicks that this year is a little difficult to enjoy the holiday, especially depending on where you are living, and if the regulations are more strict than others. We hope that we gave you at least one Halloween idea to take from to let you and your kids enjoy a little hocus pocus.

If you are fortunate to go out during the COVID 19 pandemic and celebrate the holiday, we do have a few Halloween costume ideas on what you can be while rocking your cannastyle. If you're someone who doesn't like costumes, check out or new Happy Hempoween and smoking pumpkin tee shirt! Either way, whether you’re celebrating at home, or having fun trick or treating, we hope you have fun and stay safe.
